Bass Player and co-founder of PARRJAZZ with Geni, John has had a long and varied career in music of all kinds but especially Jazz. He is at home in most areas of the jazz spectrum from Traditional to Modern, 'Hot Club' to 'West Coast Cool' etc. as he sometimes cheerfully puts it: 'From New Orleans to New Wave'. Because of this he has accompanied many of the top names in the Jazz world over the years - in Jazz Clubs, on tour and at Jazz Festivals both in the UK and abroad. Too many names to mention them all but the list includes musicians and singers such as: Pete King * Don Weller * Stan Tracey * Elkie Brooks * Barney Kessel * Cleo Lane * Scott Hamilton * Madeleine Bell * Jon Hendricks and Joe Newman.

He has been a popular player on the north west scene for many years now after falling in love with jazz as a young teen whilst rooting through his parents' record collection. His resulting obsession with drums, black american music and records endures today! He is a sensitive accompanist and plays regularly with many of the UK's leading lights such as Pete King, Alan Barnes, Gilad Atzmon, Dave O' Higgins et al and he has been involved in projects with some of the newer school includind Tony Kofi and Soweto Kinch. He also plays as many gigs that he can with his contemporaries in the North West and of course has his long term residency here at PARRJAZZ.

He is a Liverpool-born guitarist who, in 1993 at the age of 12, won the Daily Telegraph Young Jazz Musician of the Year award. After finishing as runner up in the Young Jazz Musician of the Year regional finals in 1997, he went on to study jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Since returning to Liverpool he regularly performs around the Northwest along with annual performances in Germany where in 2006 he won the Berlin Jazz and Blues award.
