Acknowledging the history of Parr Street.

Parr Street itself is named after slave trader and banker Thomas Parr. It is with some irony that we acknowledge the historical legacy in the name of Parrjazz considering that we promote music whose origin lies in the expression and protest of African Americans and people who were enslaved.
