Grounded Thread is a Liverpool-based quartet performing original music for guitar, cello, double bass and tap percussion. Composed by bassist Pablo Sonnaillon and guitarist Alex McDowall, their work blends jazz harmony, folk textures and intricate rhythm, placing tap dance within the ensemble as a fully integrated percussive voice

Ray is influenced by all great improvisers such as Wynton Marsalis, Woody Shaw, Miles Davies and Tom Harrell. Ray has played with his own band ‘Butcher’s Brew’ at Ronnie Scott’s, the 606 club, Peggy’s Skylight among others.
